The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I worked in the field of engineering for over 30 years, with Hughes Aircraft and Xerox Corp. I was also a math tutor volunteer for the Urban League for more than 15 years. Then, in March of 2002 I almost died of a diabetic coma. Fortunately, I was able to use my background in engineering and biochemistry (Thanks to Penn State and all the great professors!). I recovered and helped other diabetics as a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association. With my mother's and daughter's help, I wrote the (now acclaimed) book, Death to Diabetes. Today I am an author, speaker and diabetes educator, conducting diabetes workshops and teleseminars to help other diabetics. I grew up in a small town in Western Pennsylvania, where I was blessed with strong parents and great teachers, who gave me the hope and the vision to eventually help others.
